TAIYUAN, China, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has awarded Gold Label to the Taiyuan International Marathon on Tuesday.
The Taiyuan International Marathon has now become the 10th marathon in the Chinese Mainland to join the world's most prestigious marathon league which also includes internationally renowned marathons such as Berlin, Tokyo, London, Boston, New York, Prague, and others.
"To get the Gold Label from IAAF means that Taiyuan International Marathon has been highly recognized in the field of race regulation, elite player service and competition," said Bi Zongmin, deputy secretary general of Taiyuan International Marathon organizing committee.
The annual Taiyuan International Marathon initiated in 2010, has attracted more than 230,000 people from nearly 30 countries and regions, and the 2019 edition will start on September 8 with the number of participants to reach 33,000.
"We hope to make Taiyuan International Marathon the most popular race for runners, by meeting their needs and achieving better racing experience," said Bi.
