BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The award-winning British musical Matilda will tour 13 cities across China, starting from June 2019 to January 2020, the China Daily reported Thursday.
Adapted from British writer Roald Dahl's novel of the same name, Matilda presents the story of a precocious 5-year-old girl who taught herself to read and strove to rewrite her own life, in spite of the ill treatment from her parents and older brother.
The musical has claimed 87 awards, including seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards, and is considered one of the most preeminent shows in the United Kingdom, the paper said.
The musical is jointly imported by Sevenages and Poly Theatre Management, which also run Chinese-edition shows such as the Sound of Music and Cinderella as its 2019-2020 lineup, it said.
