RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Breno Lopes' second-half winner helped newly promoted Coritiba beat Cruzeiro 2-1 on Thursday to claim its first win of the Brazilian Serie A season.
Cruzeiro's Matheus Pereira opened the scoring at the Mineirao by dancing around two defenders and firing a left-footed shot into the far corner.
Uruguayan forward Joaquin Lavega equalized for the visitors on the stroke of halftime, timing his run to perfection and tapping in from close range after Bruno Melo's cross.
Former Palmeiras forward Lopes completed the turnaround when he rounded goalkeeper Cassio and rolled the ball into an empty net.
The result leaves Coritiba 11th in the 20-team standings with three points from two games while Cruzeiro is last, having yet to register a point.
Earlier, Uruguayan winger Cristian Olivera scored in the 78th minute to earn 10-man Bahia a 1-1 home draw with Fluminense.
Forward John Kennedy had opened the scoring for the visitors with a 20th-minute strike following Nonato's through ball.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 88th minute when teenage striker Dell was shown a straight red card for a bad foul on Argentine Juan Freytes.
In Thursday's only other match, Vasco da Gama was held to a 1-1 home draw by Chapecoense. ■
