Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona and Basque derby in Copa del Rey semifinals

MADRID, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Copa del Rey holder FC Barcelona was drawn to play Atletico Madrid in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey knockout competition in the draw held at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Friday lunchtime.

The tie is a repeat of last season's semifinals which saw Barcelona and Atletico draw a thrilling first leg 4-4 in Barcelona, before a goal from Ferran Torres gave Barcelona a narrow 1-0 win in the Metropolitano Stadium in the return leg and a place in the final where they beat Real Madrid 3-2 after extra-time.

The second semifinal is a Basque derby between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad with the first match in Athletic Bilbao's San Mames Stadium and the second leg in San Sebastian.

The ties will be played on a home and away basis, with the first leg next week and the return in the first week of March. ■
