KABUL, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and three others injured after heavy rainfall and cold weather swept across western Afghanistan's Herat, Ghor, and Nuristan provinces, local media outlet Tolo News reported on Friday.
According to the report, the severe weather conditions since Thursday have also destroyed 10 residential houses in the affected areas. Emergency assistance has been delivered to families impacted by the disasters.
Officials have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to take precautionary measures as unstable weather continues in several parts of the country. ■
