ISLAMABAD, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's workers' remittances rose nearly 12 percent year-on-year to 3.4 billion U.S. dollars in October, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Friday.
On a monthly basis, remittances increased by over 7 percent compared to 3.2 billion dollars recorded in September, the central bank said in a statement.
During the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year 2025-26, cumulative remittance inflows stood at 12.96 billion dollars, marking a growth of 9.3 percent compared to 11.9 billion dollars in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in October with 821 million dollars, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 698 million dollars, the United Kingdom with 488 million dollars, and the United States with 290 million dollars.
Remittances play a vital role in supporting Pakistan's external account and boosting household incomes.
In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to overseas Pakistanis for their contribution, saying the steady rise in remittances reflects their confidence in the government's economic policies. ■
