MADRID, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid has suffered a crucial injury setback with the confirmation that Spain international defender Robin le Normand sustained a knee injury in Tuesday's 3-1 Champions League win at home to Union Saint-Gilloise that could keep him out of action until the end of the year.
The injury will also mean the stopper will also miss Spain's final two World Cup qualifying group matches against Georgia and Türkiye on November 15th and 18th.
Le Normand suffered the injury in the first half of Tuesday's game in the Metropolitano Stadium after colliding with a rival in the middle of the pitch and he left the pitch limping slightly.
As is usual, the club has not given an estimated return date, but the El Mundo Deportivo newspaper estimates he will be out of action between one and two months, meaning he may not play again in 2025. ■
